2020 Hero Card – Alan Krimes

Project // Hero Card Design

The Design Process

A few weeks ago, one of Alan Krimes’ sponsors reached out to me and expressed interest in ordering hero cards for Alan.

Alan Krimes’ is the driver of the No. 87 Krimes’ Racing 410 Sprint Car, that usually races around Central Pennsylvania along side of the world-known “PA Posse”, and competes against the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and the All Stars Circuit of Champions 410 sprint car touring racing series.

Alan is a 2-Time Lincoln Speedway Track Champion and has had a respectful racing career inside of the keystone state to date. He is no stranger to victory lane, and has won 21 410 sprint car races, leading up to the 2020 racing season.

Like all my clients, I had Alan and his fiance, Danyell, fill out the questionnaire.

This questionnaire step has been a huge benefit and time saver in designing each hero card.

I have found makes gathering my clients career and racing highlights easier, as well as very concise and focused on what truly will benefit their audience or reach that will pick up their cards.

Some of my clients have had a hard time coming up with the information, not just any information, but the necessary information that is needed for their card, and this questionnaire gets them thinking of what’s truly important or several “musts” for any hero card.

Items we definitely wanted to highlight on Alan’s autograph card were:

  • Team Marketing Partners for the 2020 season

  • All of Alan’s Social Media information

  • Alan’s Racing Career Stats & Accomplishments

Pairing two of my images from 2020 and his head shot from the 2019 season that I already had on hand from one of my photo galleries in the archives, we were able to produce and design this stunning autograph card for Krimes’ 2020 racing season.

For the front image I used this rear, left side shot of Alan flying through turn 3 and turn 4 at Lincoln Speedway, shown below. This image makes for a very unique image, and a interesting image, for fans walking through the pits. This is a great shot that I love to use on hero cards, and it also is what helps my autograph cards stand out paired with a great design.
For the rear image of Alan, I used this headshot of Alan fully dressed, with his helmet on and him sitting in the cockpit of the sprint car. This helps pull the fans eye in and show the emotion from Alan’s face of him listening to his motor.

Great images, paired with interesting design techniques will help set you apart from the rest of the other drivers that have hero cards in the pits.

Shown below is the front and back of Alan’s finalized card design.
