2021 Gettysburg Clash | World Of Outlaws Sprint Car Series

THE STRUGGLE NO ONE SEES

This night was easily the worst night of photographing I’ve had in a long time. From technicalities with my camera, to mentally taxing, my head just wasn’t fully there.

I accidently must have bumped a setting on my camera, a day or two before, and I never realized it until it was too late, right before the last feature.

Aside from struggling with the camera, it’s been one of the toughest weeks I’ve had in recent memory, to stay focused on photographing an event, due to a death in the early morning of the night that the Gettysburg Clash took place. The choice to go to the Gettysburg Clash, wasn’t exactly where I wanted to be, but I felt the need to go to get my mind off of what was going on. I am appreciative for the friends I have made at the track, who were welcoming me with open arms and good support throughout the night to keep my mind busy.

RACE RECAP FROM MY EYES

Aside from the complications I was having outside of attending the event, the racing was some of the best I’ve seen to date at Lincoln this year alone. It was great to see a packed house, 47 cars in the pit area, and witness a 3-way battle for the lead, and switching leaders constantly between Donny Schatz, Brad Sweet, and Brent Marks. Brent Marks who charged from starting 12th to the lead, would eventually get tied up with Danny Dietrich, a lap car, who jumped the cushion, and did a 360 to keep his spot. However, at that moment, Brent Marks, who has been coming off a ton of momentum, after winning 4 out of 6 races, including Eldora Speedway, over Mother’s Day weekend, would lose his chance at victory. Brad Sweet would pass him with a few laps to go. Brad Sweet would go on to tame the PA Posse, and snag his first ever career 410 win at Lincoln Speedway in the Pigeon Hills of Pennsylvania on Wednesday, May 12th.

Emotions run extremely high this week, due to the PA Posse/Outlaw rivalry, and Brad Sweet’s win left PA fans crying, booing, and just let the fun begin for the remainder of the Spring fling in Pennsylvania. Next up is two nights of the World of Outlaws at Williams Grove Speedway for the ever popular “Morgan Cup”.

I wanted to share a few moments from the night’s racing action with you all that were across the board some of my favorite. Link to full gallery is below.
