Matt & Becca – Pennsylvania Proposal 2021

Love is beautiful and this day, December 27th, 2021 ended up being perfect. A great way to cap my 2021 year with a surprise proposal for this beautiful couple.

Originally, Matt connected with me and asked if I could be present for his proposal to his girlfriend, Becca, when they came back home for Christmas. Matt, native to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, now Colorado resident, brought Becca to meet the family, and wanted to ask her to marry him while back in his hometown on her 25th birthday.

I was so excited for a few reasons.

Matt is my oldest cousin – I was thankful and blessed that he asked me to capture his girlfriend’s reaction at that very moment.

We originally planned to do a 2 mile hike one way, in Newville, Pennsylvania, until we looked closer at the forecast realizing it was there was a chance of snow, sleet, and rain for the morning. We had talked more and changed the location to Upper Temple Road, outside of Biglerville, Pennsylvania, just a short distance outside of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

I decided to scout the area the day before, looking out into the distance, in beautiful 55 degree weather, just to get a feel for where I would be hiding, and parking my car.

I remembered this location from years of Youth Group with my church as a child. We used to hike to this location, from Camp Nawakwa. I always loved the location, based on the circle of stadium seating and the view behind the trees from the mountain. This location was perfect for a proposal.

Fast forward to the day of the proposal – I left my house in cloudy conditions, but arrived to the Temple in snow covered roads, and snowy conditions. I waited and hid for roughly 15 minutes, before the couple and Matt’s family arrived. Truly relaxing in the quiet snowy conditions – I love the snow and am truly glad it ended up snowing to create a breathtaking backdrop.

Here’s a little peek into Matt’s proposal to Becca in the snowy mountains of Pennsylvania!
